A Culture of Collaboration

The idea of a mixed-use development is not a new concept, just one from the past that has been recycled and improved upon. NAIOP Research Foundation revealed many factors have converged to spur the revitalization of this development theory over the past decade. More than a decade ago, Sal Lupoli repurposed a 200,000 SQ FT historic mill building into part of what is now Riverwalk Properties, a 3.6 million SQ FT mixed-use complex along the Merrimack River. Early on Sal saw the benefits of strategically targeting five high-growth, high-potential business clusters to create a successful mixed-use development; medical, education, energy, entrepreneurs and government agencies. Each of the five clusters was carefully chosen for its potential to support economic development, job growth and collaboration.

Riverwalk Properties continues to attract exceptional businesses and institutions. Cambridge College recently announced that the college has signed an 8,300 SF lease at Riverwalk. “We are thrilled to be of assistance to Cambridge College as they open their new facility this September at Riverwalk Properties. After an extensive search, Riverwalk was the clear best option due its prime location, amenities, and local transportation for the students and staff of Cambridge College. It was a pleasure working with Gerry-Lynn Darcy and the rest of the team at Lupoli Companies” states Ken Oppenheim, Assistant Vice President at Lincoln Property Company.

Today, the property houses more than 200 companies and has created thousands of jobs, stimulating economic growth in one of Massachusetts’s highest profile Gateway Cities. “We are honored that Cambridge College has selected Riverwalk Properties as the location for their expansion north of Boston. As a leader and pioneer in adult learning, Cambridge College has shown an unparalleled commitment to the area’s diverse culture and we are thrilled to help facilitate their growth and development. Our Riverwalk Campus is home to many successful and innovative businesses and we expect that Cambridge College will capitalize on a natural synergy that exists when educational advancement and career growth are cornerstones of a harmonious mixed-use environment,” said Sal Lupoli, CEO and President of Lupoli Companies.
